Aircraft Carrier Graf Zeppelin

Description

From the world of COBI comes a model of the legendary German aircraft carrier Graf Zeppelin. The model was designed in a standard 1:300 scale. With up to 3100 construction blocks in this model it will provide hours of exciting construction and fun. Using high quality prints to reproduce the deck painting and ship's details from the World War II period this model will really please those builders who like detail in their kits. The high quality of this kit means that the prints do not wear after time or with play from little one’s hands. For the first time, a COBI model has been designed with a working airplane elevator placed directly on board. The COBI design team have built a mechanism within the model so it is possible to raise and lower the lift with the aircraft placed on it. The model comes with 5 micro-block micro aircrafts, which are made in two colour versions. There is also a special transparent block included in the set, which after being attached to the undercarriage can imitate the taking off aircraft.
Also included in this kit of The Graf Zeppelin is a fantastic display stand, which contains a nameplate with the name and scale of the model. This advanced and exclusive set is sure to satisfy large and small fans of the Navy, history and model-making.
Graf Zeppelin is the only aircraft carrier in German history. Its construction began on 28 December 1936 in Kiel. On the order of Adolf Hitler, work was stopped in 1943, despite the progress of construction at over 90% completed. This was due to the withdrawal of all large units after the battle in the Barents Sea. At the beginning of 1945, with advancement of the Red Army, the aircraft carrier was partially sunk. In the summer of 1945, the USSR decided to salvage the damaged ship and it was refloated. In 1947 it served as a target ship and was sunk in the Baltic Sea. In 2006 the ship's wreck was located 55 km north of Władysławowo. It rests at a depth of 87 m.
