The M113 American armoured transporter is an extremely popular vehicle around the world. It was commissioned in 1960. The M113 armour is made of aluminium plates, this reduced the weight of the vehicle. The first units were powered by a carburettor engine. The M113A1 version has a diesel engine installed. The M113 chassis and hull have become the basis for the development of a number of vehicles with a wide range of purposes and armaments. It was first used during the Vietnam War, where it was successfully used to transport people and supplies. By the time the m2 Bradley was introduced to service, the M2 Bradley - m113 was the primary vehicle of the American mechanized infantry. Later, this role gradually diminished.
