A passenger car constructed in fiat plants, manufactured in Italy from 1972 to 1980. The Fiat 126 was a development of the earlier 500.
From its wildly popular predecessor it was mainly different from having new body work and upgraded components. A characteristic feature was a rear, two-cylinder, four-stroke, air-cooled engine with a capacity of up to 594 cm³
In Poland, the 126 was produced under an Italian license from 1973 until 2000 under the designation 126p. The Fiat 126 has replaced the hugely popular 500, which is said to have motorized Italy.
